Who is the ReaDEFY Learning membership for?
Students who have worked with Michal through NICR in the past or present are perfect candidates for the ReaDEFY Learning program. These students are automatically invited into this community, no application necessary! YOU CAN SIGN UP HERE.
For new students, ReaDEFY Learning is a perfect complement or next step to appropriate Structured Literacy. SCHEDULE A TIME TO CHAT HERE.
Students ages 10-17 will be grouped with age-appropriate peers.
ReaDEFY Cohorts are vetted networks focused on the members of the Dyslexia community that are ready and excited to join a community focused on the work and growth. They’re ready to initiate change within themselves and be supportive of the group and the community.
We plan to create an adult program in the near future!
Who will be leading the group?
ReaDEFY Learning’s founding group will be led by Michal G. Ricca, M.Ed., and she will CONTINUE as their leader for years to come. The intention of ReaDEFY Learning is to support and grow alongside each other through all of our developmental stages. We will ELEVATE each other in success through elementary, middle, high school, college, and beyond!
When will group sessions be held?
All sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 4-5 EST and will be recorded for members to view later.
What will happen during bi-monthly student group sessions?
All sessions will roughly follow the below structure:
10-15 minutes of synchronous instruction led by a ReaDEFY Literacy Specialist
10-15 minutes of written expression and assistive-technology independent work
10-15 minutes of break out rooms in expertly chosen groups with same-aged peers
Synchronous wrap-up led by your ReaDEFY Literacy Specialist
* We will find ways to connect outside of sessions, but there will be no outside work assigned.
What will happen during monthly Vodcast interviews?
ReaDEFY Learning has multiple interviews scheduled with our world’s most creative and well-known leaders in the field of Dyslexia. CLICK HERE FOR SNEAK PEEK
ReaDEFY members and families will be allowed to send questions in advance and will also be invited to join the interviews LIVE!
A calendar will be shared and updated with all future interviewees.
If members cannot join, these will also be saved for future viewing.
How do we connect?
Our group meetings are held via Zoom and recorded for those who cannot attend.
While the goal of ReaDEFY Learning is to be as synchronous as possible, we are also aware that an intentional mix of live and recorded work will be necessary in the future. Life happens and we exist in an ever-changing technological world. The future of education is evolving and we intend to evolve with it. All courses will be saved and available for later use.
